Mrs. Christine Anderson
Mrs. Anderson has been a member of the St. Theresa family since 1993 as a parishioner, parent, and teacher. She is the Math Department Director and began teaching at STCS in the Fall of 2004. She has taught every middle school math course excluding 7th grade math. Currently she teaches advanced math classes which include Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry. In addition to teaching, her responsibilities include collecting/providing data, evaluating math products/resources for students and teachers, and assisting in placing students in appropriate math classes, geared for success. She thoroughly enjoys watching the students think and reflect critically, discern truth logically, make informed judgments, and develop resilience to face challenges with equanimity and grace not only within the confines of math but applicable in every subject and area of life.
She grew up on Long Island with a large extended family. After receiving an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from St. John’s University, she initially became an actuary, then math teacher in the NYC and Long Island school systems. After receiving a Graduate Degree in Computer Science at the University of Virginia she was employed by Northrop Grumman Corp (formerly Grumman) for 13 years working on Supercomputer contracts which included moving to Mississippi for several years. During this time her and her husband were blessed with 4 children all of which attended our school. They graduated from Bishop O’Connell HS and various colleges, pursuing very different interests. She has a Physical Therapist, teacher, chef, and future lawyer.
Mrs. Anderson enjoys many outdoor activities including bicycling, tennis, hiking, swimming, pickleball, and gardening. She volunteers and belongs to various groups within our parish. Prior to teaching at STCS, she was a soccer and STCS CYO basketball coach.
