RELIGION

We started chapter 17- Church Is Good.  We differentiated between the two meanings of the word church, and identified that they are members of the Church.  We looked at pictures of things we see in our church and went on a 'scavenger' hunt in search of these items in St. Theresa church. We made a church craft also.

LANGUAGE ARTS
Our popcorn words this week were HERE and ME.  We did worksheets to help us learn to spell them.  Our letters this week were Jj annd Qq.  We learned how to write them properly.  The kids listened and responded to the stories 'When Daddy's Truck Picks Me Up', "King of the Winds' and a lot of new stories on CD in Literacy Groups.  As always, we wrote in our journals, did our weekly readers and various other worksheets to reinforce our learning.  We celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday with a fun assembly and buddy reading.  Deacon Renzette, Mrs. O'Malley and Mrs. McDonald came in to our room and read their favorite books!  Congrats to Tony for winning a book in the K-5 raffle:)

MATH
We continued chapter 6- Tables, Graphs, and Fractions. I polled the kids about a topic and displayed the data in a real graph. We also looked at bar graphs and identified their purpose.  The kids recognized a whole divided into equal parts.

SOCIAL  STUDIES/SCIENCE

In our lab this week, we learned about how scientists use addition and subtraction in some experiments.  The kids added and subtracted paper clips and nut bolts to a falcon tube to help it sink and float.  We read our 'Let's Find Out" magazine called 'Let's Build a Snowman' and did the corresponding worksheets.
