Technology is a vital component in today's learning environment. It motivates students, promotes active learning, and transforms the classroom. Our students need to learn technical skills in order to thrive in their educational and vocational endeavors. At STCS we are committed to understanding and utilizing the proper technology tools that will enhance your child's learning experience.

Currently STCS has a computer lab, a Promethean ActivBoard in every classroom, 10 iPads in each of the K-2 classrooms, and all classroom teachers have been given an iPad for school use. The school auction proceeds helped purchase a cart for the 3rd and 4th grade classrooms. The PTO generously purchased 2 iPad carts for the 5th grade classes to use.

After researching appropriate devices for a one device per child initiative (1:1), we chose to provide the Middle School students with Chromebooks. Read more about it on our Chromebook site.

What apps are teachers using?

Each teacher has an iPad to explore the apps available at the App Store. Just like the iPad is a tool for enhanced learning, the teachers are first deciding what kind of apps would be helpful for the lesson they are teaching and then using them to build their lesson plans. These give students the opportunity to create digital stories, to practice spelling words, and to improve math skills.
