Ms. Figueroa was born and raised in Puerto Rico and she is fully bilingual in English and Spanish. She obtained a Bachelor in Arts Degree with a double major in Psychology and Secondary Education, as well as a Master in Education Degree with a major in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Puerto Rico. She is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Education as a School Counselor for grades K-12. Ms. Figueroa has more than 20 years of experience as a school counselor, of which the last 14 have been with the Diocese of Arlington Catholic Schools. She worked at St. Louis School in Alexandria and has been the St. James School's school counselor for 13 years, holding a split position along with St. Theresa's for the last three years. Ms. Figueroa is an active member of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), the Virginia School Counselor Association (VSCA), and the Virginia Counselors Association (VCA). She also holds an Anxiety and Stress Management certification from ASCA. She is a parishioner of St. Timothy Church and has served as a volunteer at the INOVA Fairfax Hospital Pastoral Care Department as an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister. Her pride and joy are her two daughters, 25 and 27, who are both college graduates from VCU and Marymount University respectively. Ms. Figueroa’s passion is to guide and support her students in the process of achieving emotional, social and academic success.
